The other day I saw an article called “A Teen’s Brave Response to “I’m Christian, unless You’re Gay.”
Apparently it’s causing quite a stir and quite a bit of discourse. At least one person’s mind has been opened, which is great.
I guess sometimes it still surprises me that these types of articles cause so much response. And then I realize that it shouldn’t.
There is still so much hate and anger and fear about gay people. I was raised in a fundamentalist Christian environment. In short, I was taught to hate gays, too.
But then I grew up. I learned a lot, and I accepted that people are different. I moved across the country. I went through a good 14 years of religious and spiritual searching. Oh, and I realized I’m bi.
If you really believe in the Law of Attraction, then you’ll realize that you really can change how people perceive you and how they react to you. Even if you’re gay. You’ll attract people to you who support you if you can accept yourself. Instead of sticking around the Deep South and fighting against the Bible Belt, I fled to the Pacific Northwest. But some people can live in the South or in places where they are persecuted. More power to them. Their powers in the Law are stronger than mine.

I love that Dan wrote the original post/article and that he is sharing on his blog some of the great responses he has gotten since last November. He mentioned in his last post that he has turned off comments to the original post, which I totally do not blame him. There are so many horrible people in this world! I am ashamed and embarrassed that they are part of the human race, to be quite honest. And I am beyond frustrated, annoyed and just plane angry that these same people hide behind a dogma and a book — preaching how Christian they are, when everyone knows they are just hypocrites!!!! But I digress …
I think everyone should read this, the original post, and the others that have stemmed from the original. So many people can be helped and others can see just what an ass they really are … that is if they accept the accountability … sadly most will not! And those are the people that I am learning to release from my own life. It is not about tolerating any more to me. If one feels they need to express their hate filled “opinion” based on what they say is their “belief” then I don’t want any part of it.
Thanks, Amethyst! I’ve waited a couple weeks for this post from you
