The other day I saw an article called “A Teen’s Brave Response to “I’m Christian, unless You’re Gay.”
Apparently it’s causing quite a stir and quite a bit of discourse. At least one person’s mind has been opened, which is great.
I guess sometimes it still surprises me that these types of articles cause so much response. And then I realize that it shouldn’t.
There is still so much hate and anger and fear about gay people. I was raised in a fundamentalist Christian environment. In short, I was taught to hate gays, too.
But then I grew up. I learned a lot, and I accepted that people are different. I moved across the country. I went through a good 14 years of religious and spiritual searching. Oh, and I realized I’m bi.
If you really believe in the Law of Attraction, then you’ll realize that you really can change how people perceive you and how they react to you. Even if you’re gay. You’ll attract people to you who support you if you can accept yourself. Instead of sticking around the Deep South and fighting against the Bible Belt, I fled to the Pacific Northwest. But some people can live in the South or in places where they are persecuted. More power to them. Their powers in the Law are stronger than mine.
