Happy October, Everyone! It is officially my favorite time of year. I’ll be spending time this weekend breaking out the Halloween decorations. Oops, I mean Samhain. 🙂
I will also be giving a 3 hour class at the Pan-Pagan Festival at Ancient Light in Waldport, Oregon this Saturday (from 3-6 pm). We’ll cover ways to read any Tarot cards right out of the box, and we’ll also do a special Wheel of the Year Spread. It’s going to be a great time – don’t miss it.

Now for today’s post for the Witchy Challenge: a myth or story from legend.
Zeus is the King of the Greek Gods. He rules Mount Olympus. Zeus overthrew his father to rule, and everyone refers to him as Father, whether they are God, Goddess, or human. Of course, this was after he defeated the Titans in a great battle. Zeus had a wife name Hera, but there are lots of stories of his shenanigans.
Apparently at one point Zeus was told that if Metis had any children they would be greater than Zeus. So Zues swallowed Metis. Apparently she was already pregnant and after some time Zues had a splitting headache. He called someone (it varies by story) to open his head, and out jumped Athena – the great Goddess of wisdom, war, and a slew of other things, fully grown and armed.
I’ve always enjoyed the Greek stories. From the time I studied them as a child I have had an affinity with them. Some day soon I’ll get to Greece. Until then, please enjoy these pictures from eigroj’s blog Cool Pics – Photography & Travel.

I can hardly believe it’s already October, time goes by to fast. Nice post.
I absolutely love the Greek Mythos 🙂 I haven’t worked with Zeus much but love the stories.
I’ve loved these stories since I was so young – nothing else has ever come close – not even the Christian mythos I was raised in.

Workshop went great, Bonnie. Small and easy to manage – everyone got to share their spreads and tell their stories. And everyone realized they can read Tarot cards right out of the box without relying on books of definitions, teachers, or anything else. I had a blast! 🙂
