Yesterday I went to my acupuncturist and did a very long Inner Dialogue session. If you’ve never done this, it’s extremely deep work.
I’ve done a lot of therapy work in all of my years as a psychologist, but this pretty much trumps it all.
It combines therapy, kinesiology, EFT (I think), and some other things I might get around to reading up on. At any rate, it’s one of the most amazing things I’ve done, and one of the most releasing and healing. As energized as I was, though, I was also pretty exhausted after the two-hour session.
Part of the process for me was to release my old totem animal, since it wasn’t my real one anyway, and find my true one. It was really tough saying, “Good-bye, kitty.” My black jaguar has been with me for years. Heck, decades. It’s really like saying good-bye to an old friend.
After much searching and body work, I was finally able to say hello to my new power animal. I was a little surprised to hear that it’s a pegasus. Could that explain all of my flying dreams I’ve had all of these years? When I was doing the work, I kept having the feelings of wings, and thought it might be a bird of some kind. At any rate, I’m pretty stoked.
Many people have picked power or totem animals for themselves, and most people I know have a couple of them along with one main one. I wonder, though, how many of us are relying on the wrong animals? Is your power animal supporting you, or is it standing in your way? Is it an animal you adopted that may not be serving you in the highest way? I’d love to hear from you.

Hi Ameythyst – Amazing work. I began my deepest Tarot journey with the Medicine cards and at that time became aware of my power animals and they are the owl and the beaver. I journey happily with them and they have both served me well.
Look forward to hearing more of your journey with Pegasus.
Warmest Lynette
Hello, shining Amethyst! I have worked with the Medicine Cards for years, too. Some I resonate strongly with and some are clearly challenges for me. About eleven years ago I was taken on a Vision Walk and was introduced to my totem, Owl. I was a little reluctant at first, since many Native Americans fear Owl, but I’ve since met many powerful carriers of Owl Medicine and have come to understand that I’m one, too. Owl Medicine aligns very strongly with one of my Tarot birth cards, Death.
