Vanilla

Today’s subject is a favorite scent. I have two: vanilla and cinnamon. Today I’ll talk about vanilla.

While I do eat vanilla sometimes, I like it more as a scent than a flavor.

Vanilla is the only edible fruit of the orchid family. It is sometimes used to relieve an upset stomach and has been considered to be an aphrodisiac. Vanilla used to be so expensive that it was only available for royalty.

These days the scent of vanilla is used to ease tensions and for relaxation. It may also help relieve anxiety. Vanilla is said to promote feelings of safety and security. No wonder I have liked vanilla for so long.

What is your favorite scent? I’d love to hear about it.

A beautiful picture.I too love vanilla as an aroma. It is a lovely incense to burn. Adding vanilla to a good old fashioned rice pudding dessert adds flavour too.

Wow, I looked it up, and smelling cinnamon is supposed to stimulate the brain and increase motor skills. One site recommends chewing cinnamon gum when taking important exams! Another site also recommends smelling and ingesting cinnamon to relieve epilepsy. But the how would you smell the bacon?? (Many people I have worked with over the years said they smelled bacon just before having a seizure.) Who knew?

Well I like lavender and lemon. I like vanilla too, but sometimes I get tired of all the same.

It’s definitely goo to switch things up. Not only is it healthy spiritually, but it also keeps you from becoming desensitized to that odor. Generally, that happens all at once, but I believe it can happen over time as well.

My favourite is frangipani, probably because you just don’t smell it much here – well, not naturally anyway!

I also love my Spring freesias! Mine are just finishing flowering now and you just can’t beat it – my favourite flower 🙂

Kris, you’re the only person I’ve ever heard who knows what a frangipani is! You made my day. I have a tattoo of one on my inner left wrist. 🙂
