Witchy Books

Here’s a great big can of worms: books for witches. You would think (if you aren’t a witch, Pagan, or otherwise familiar with the new age scene) that there would just be a few books to recommend and no controversy. Right? Wrong.

Apparently, many Pagans and witches like to pride themselves on which books to read. (Also many like to trace their lineage back or insist that you have to be initiated in their coven, and blah, blah, blah.) But we’ll stick to books for this post.

Many new young witches find themselves drawn to the series by Silver Ravenwolf. There are many, many people who call you a Fluffy Bunny if you dare to mention her books or her name. The whole Fluffy Bunny issue is pretty ridiculous in general. Unfortunately, some Pagans take an elitest attitude that borders on fundamentalism. If you want to see what I think about this, you can read “Fluffy Bunny” here. Fluffy Bunny will be updating about every Friday from now on. 🙂

If you are looking for a good witchy book, I would suggest to just look through what speaks to you and not worry about what anyone else says. I’m partial to Wicca books by Scott Cunningham and candle magic books by Raymond Buckland, but everyone has his or her preference. What are your favorite Witchy books? I’d love to hear about them!

Oh I hear ya. I am so tired of hearing all the fluff talk about SRW.. You know I adore many authors and I do enjoy SRW for some of her material and more so for the enthusiasm behind her writing.

I like Bucklands Spirit Book, Cunninghams Spell Crafts.. There are so many authors I really do enjoy but I find my most inspiring perceptions have come through Mythology, History and my network of friends as well as what the spirits tell me.
